Torsfjorden – Kvalvika – Markvatnet – Marka, 5-6 hours
We start the trek from Torsfjord. There is a good path in accessible terrain. We head over the pass to Kvalvika beach. Here we can walk on the beach for a while and we continue over the cliffs to the other part of the beach. It is a challenging walk along the cove to Kvalvikvannet. From there we proceed to lake Markvatnet and the shelter, build on the foundations of an old house. The trail ends by the Selfjord (Marka) and we have to walk on the road 2-3 km back to the parking place.
We organize trek from Nesland to Nusfjord on Flakstad Island. We start in Nesland with visiting the only water mill in Lofoten and we head towards Nusfjord. The fishing village Nusfjord is located in magnificent surroundings with towering mountains (Lofot cliffs) that just straight up from the salty fjord waters high into the air and belongs to one of the best preserved fishing villages in all of Lofoten and to one of Norway’s oldest. It is also on the UNESCO world heritage list. We will visit the village and attend a special multimedia presentation Folket og Fisken (The people and the fish). It is a cairned, moderate walk. In Nusfjord we can order delicious fish soup for lunch in the cosy local restaurant.
One of the proposals includes a trek to the lakes of Sørvågen surroundings and Munkebu hut. We set out with a local guide from the village of Sørvågen. The path begins at the lake Sørvågvatnet, just above the sea level. On the way, we will pass magnificent waterfalls and lakes, including Stuvdalsvatnet, reaching
Leaving from Reine at 8 a.m. we sail with the passenger boat Fjordruta into the Reinefjord where we can see some of the most magnificent mountain formations and waterfalls that Norway has to offer. We go ashore at Kirkefjord and proceed on foot, for approx. 2 hour, through the beautiful landscape and on to Horseid beach with its fabulous white, sandy beach overlooking the Norwegian Sea. There are also some foundations of an old settlement in Horseid. On the beach we will have lunch. We go back to Kirkefjord and take the boat to Reine.
We start at Ramsvika bay and hike to the viewpoint on Mount Reinebringen. The path is unmarked and in steep terrain, can be slippery with loose stones. We recommend it to those with some mountain experience. The view from the top is breathtaking. You can see Reinefjord, Reine, Sakrisøy, Hamnøy and the famous Lofoten Wall.
